Centre Stage

Centre Stage is week-long festival organized and supported by the OUDS BAME Officer, designed to showcase all-Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) cast and crew in various productions that occur across the week.

BAME creatives are often underrepresented in the acting world, and this initiative provides a platform for their talents, creating a space where they can take the lead in the production process. Show material performed during Centre Stage is typically decided through collaboration between the BAME Officer, the OUDS Committee, and other BAME creatives within the Oxford theatre community that come together to form a working group.

Previously called the BAME Show (annual singular production featuring all-BAME companies), past productions include Medea at the Keble O’Reilly Theatre (2018) and And Then There Were None at the Michael Pilch Theatre (2025).

In 2026, the BAME Show was rebranded as Center Stage by Sanaa Pasha (President 2026-27, BAME Officer 2025-26) where 3 productions of blackbird hour, untitled f*ck m*ss s**gon play, and English were staged in the Michael Pilch Studio in Hilary Term Week 7, celebrating and focusing on Black, East Asian, and Middle Eastern/South Asian cast and crews within Oxford theatre.

Information on Centre Stage 2027 will be released in Michaelmas by the BAME Officer.
